St Marks Cathedral

St. Mark’s Cathedral stands as the crown jewel of Korcula's Old Town, a stunning Gothic-Renaissance marvel that captures the imagination. This architectural masterpiece was completed in the 15th century, but its roots stretch back to the 13th-century church that originally occupied the site. The cathedral was crafted by local artisans renowned for their stone masonry, talents that were celebrated in both Renaissance and Baroque Dubrovnik and Venice. Among these skilled hands, stonemason Marko Andijic was a standout. He was the genius behind the cathedral’s tower and cupola, completed in 1481, as well as the elegant ciborium gracing the main altar.
