Originally crafted by the Riga company Felser & Co in 1879, this bridge found its home in Viljandi in 1931, thanks to a generous gift from Karl von Mensenkampf, the lord of Tarvastu Manor. It's fascinating to think that this bridge, stretching over 50 meters, was once perched over a 15-meter-deep valley. Initially, it spanned the moat in Tarvastu, making it easier for the lord's family to stroll to the chapel amidst the ruins. Today, this suspension bridge is a beloved icon for both locals and visitors, standing as one of Viljandi's cherished symbols. It underwent a thoughtful reconstruction in 1995, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
