Explorow Blog > The Explorow Guide Explorow vs. Wanderlog vs. Polarsteps

Explorow was created for everyone passionate about travel and hungry to see the world. For those who want more than to post a photo of themselves with the Colosseum in Rome on Instagram, checking how many likes it got, and forgetting about it forever.

Buried somewhere on your phone, never looked at again.
Explorow is a personal traveller's map. On Explorow, your photo with the Colosseum is on the map - the map of your vast, ongoing journey. Next to it are other photos: you in Florence, on your way to Rome, and that time you stopped at a little cafe in Tuscany and had the best pasta with ragu you've ever tasted.
You add your travel experiences to the map - photos, videos, descriptions of what it was like - and create a personal memory you can return to whenever you open your Explorow page.

Explorow isn't the only platform that lets you put your travels on a map, but the differences matter.
Wanderlog: A Planning Tool, Not a Diary

Wanderlog is an itinerary for a trip: on Thursday, you stay overnight at the "Old London" hotel, which Wanderlog itself recommended; on Friday, you plan to visit one of the restaurants from their curated list; on Saturday, you'll stop by the tram museum recommended by user William B. from London.
Wanderlog is a planning tool. It was never meant to be your travel diary. Even if you create a Trip Journal there, the process of building it is secondary to the platform's main purpose - showcasing their own content, whether created by them, influencers, hotels, or restaurants. This isn't your travel map.
Polarsteps: Closer, But Limited

Polarsteps leans more toward a personalised map, and the Trip structure reflects that - a series of points on the map where you've been, combined into a single journey. But this structure is also its limitation.
You're confined to Trips. There's no way to hashtag "delicious lunch" for a small roadside cafe in Tuscany and then, whenever you want, open a dedicated page for that tag showing every place you've ever marked with it - whether in Italy, London, Florida, or Northampton, Massachusetts, all on a single map.
On Explorow, you can. Here's what it looks like:

The same applies to countries and cities. On Explorow, you can click "Italy" in the Countries filter and see every place you've ever saved there, regardless of when you visited. Click "Boston" and all your Boston spots load onto the map, no matter how many trips ago it was. Polarsteps doesn't offer this - you can only view the individual Trips you created.
Why It Matters
The ability to explore your travels by country, by city, and by your own hashtags - and to share them privately with the people you choose, not the entire internet - is what makes Explorow a true personal travel map, not just another travel app.
