El Badi Palace

Dar el Badii, the unparalleled palace, was constructed between 1578 and 1603 under the watchful eye of Yacoub el Mansour, an Almohade ruler. The Andalusian influence in the palace's design is unmistakable, suggesting that the anonymous architect likely hailed from Granada. Today, the palace's interior gardens, once known as the Gardens of Desire, have transformed into an expansive esplanade dotted with artificial lakes and orange trees. These gardens are encircled by the palace's ruins and lofty walls, where a charming colony of storks has made its home.
